Best DSLR Camera Under 200

Canon T5 DSLR Camera

Digital Single Lens Reflex (DSLR) cameras are more powerful than standard camera phones and standard point and shoot cameras.  DSLR cameras have larger image sensors giving users the ability to take dramatically more vivid pictures.  This quality makes DSLR cameras the perfect travel companion for capturing bright vivid images from exotic locations or even just documenting the world around you in vivid detail.

The challenge for part time photographers or first time users is the price point.  New DSLR cameras prices can range from the mid $400’s to over a $1,000 with some premium DSLR models well into the thousands of dollars.  Rather than buying the most expensive new model, it can make sense for first-time, infrequent, or casual users to purchase an older DSLR model at a better price point.  We developed a list of the best DSLR cameras currently priced under $200.

We are proposing two options to consider.  Our first list represents the best new DSLR cameras priced under $200.

For photographers interested in more advanced camera options at lower price points, you may want to consider purchasing a used DSLR camera.  Our second list focuses on used DSLR cameras which offer enhanced technology at far more favorable prices.

What to Look for in a DSLR Camera for the Amateur Photographer

DSLR cameras offer you options to customize your photographs by manually changing the settings on the camera and by allowing you to change lenses.  You are able to choose setting modes such as portrait, landscape, flash shots, distance shots, close-ups, and sports.  Lens options include standard 18-55 mm zoom for everyday use, wide angle lenses, telephoto lenses, macro lenses, fish eye lenses, and more.

One of the best features of some DSLR cameras is the ability to auto-focus or to focus manually.  Some cameras have vibration reduction mechanisms built into either the camera body or the lens for steadier picture taking.

While shopping for your DSLR, look at the amount of pixels.  Pixels are a shortened term for picture elements.  Generally, the higher the pixels, the closer the photographic image will be to the original subject matter.
