I visited the Westchester Renaissance hotel in mid September as part of a business trip. I previously stayed at the Westchester Marriott and wanted to try a different hotel. Taking the Marriott Platinum Challenge required me to stay at a different hotel as well.
The Westchester Renaissance is located in a quiet wooden area outside the main section of Westchester New York. The location provides a relaxing resort style environment.

Finding the Hotel
I arrived at the hotel in the evening. The hotel offered a standard room upgrade at check-in. I inquired about suite availability. The agent checked into the system and found availability for a 4th floor suite.
So far during the Marriott Platinum Challenge, I’ve had some unexpected good luck receiving suite upgrades. I’ve received suite upgrades at the Marriott Cleveland Ohio Key Center and the Renaissance Cleveland hotel.
The Westchester Renaissance hotel is actually located in West Harrison, New York. New York City is just a 35 minute drive from the hotel. The hotel offers 342 rooms, 6 suites, 27 meeting rooms, a concierge lounge (for gold and platinum members), a fitness center with an indoor pool, and the Hive Living Room restaurant and bar.

Asking for a Suite
See below for a video tour of the 4th floor Suite I stayed in at the Renaissance in Westchester New York.
The 4th floor suite offered a large open floor plan that combined a living room with the bedroom. A small kitchenette / bar area sat in the right corner of the suite by the second entrance. A separate bathroom was located in the back right corner by the large double bed.

The suite offered a scenic view of the hotel courtyard and the glass enclosure surrounding the indoor pool.

Concierge Lounge
The lounge operates Monday to Thursday from 6am to 10pm, 6am to 1pm on Friday, and from 5pm to 10pm on Sunday. Breakfast is served from 6am to 10am. Hors d’oeuvres are offered from 5:30pm to 7:30pm and dessert is offered at 7:30pm.

Pool & Gym
The indoor pool is located on the ground floor in the middle of the hotel. The pool is surrounded by a wall of windows with a nice view of the rustic scenery.

Restaurant
Free breakfast for elite members was available in the concierge lounge. I was traveling for business so opted for breakfast in the main hotel restaurant. The main hotel restaurant was located next to the hotel lobby. The restaurant design included an open floor plan with a bar in the back corner.

Pros
- Resort style property in a quiet scenic location.
- Only 35 minutes away from New York City and 10 minutes away from the Westchester airport.
- Hotel was very willing to provide a suite upgrade to an elite gold member.
- Friendly staff and clean hotel.
Cons
- The hotel is slightly outside of the main city center of Westchester New York. You need to drive if you want to go anywhere outside of the hotel.
Final Thoughts
The Renaissance Westchester impressed me. I don’t have platinum status yet, but the hotel was very willing to upgrade me into a really nice suite. The suite itself was really nice, with plenty of room and good view of the scenery nearby the hotel. The hotel’s location, which is slightly outside of the main part of town, offers a more relaxed feel than many of the larger hotels directly in the main city center. I found the hotel to be a really good option when staying in the upstate New York area.
